Fun With Fred At Moers, 1979...

I'm guessing there are few musicians who can say they have been an innovator who has contributed to the development and advancement of their genre of music, has served as a mentor for many younger musicians, served as a facilitator and curator of one of the most important venues in music, and have been making meaningful contributions to their art for five decades. Fred Anderson can. Fred Anderson possesses one of those sounds that is both timeless and modern at the same time. It's a wonder he can still perform physically at 80 years of age!

Today's offering is his 1979 recording, Another Place, from the Moers Jazz Festival. The stellar line-up is: Fred Anderson - ts; Billy Brimfield - tpt; George Lewis - tb; Brian Smith - bass;
Hamid Drake - drums. The compositions are: Saxoon; The Bull; Another Place.

Enjoy!
