Three Sparkling Gems...

Here are three offerings from the sixties and seventies that are difficult to find but a joy to encounter. All three players were instrumental in the rise of free jazz during this period. The late Jimmy Lyons was associated with Cecil Taylor, Marion Brown was associated with the Coltrane/Impulse crowd and Jacques Coursil was associated with Chicago's AACM (Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians).
Marion Brown - Sweet Earth Flying
Jacques Coursil - Way Ahead
Jimmy Lyones - Other Afternoons
Enjoy!

  1. What a sweet trio of albums! The Coursil is especially rewarding. I'm proud to say I had a hand in his return to music a few years ago. He was a really promising talent, and it's a shame he left the business for more than thirty years.
