Raincheck, 1988

Nick Brignola was an overlooked multi-horn player (saxes, flute and clarinet) who never quite reached the level of recognition he should have, though he worked steadily and always with superlative fellow musicians. The recording we have here was released on the small indie label Reservoir (for which he recorded a couple more) out of Kingston, NY. The quartet is stellar and the music is top shelf. The playlist is generous in terms of playing time (clocking in at over 70 minutes) even in the era of the CD. It is superlative mainstream jazz!

Enjoy!
