For those who have sampled the Fonda-Stevens Group and enjoyed what you heard, I offer you a wonderful trio session recorded in 1988 but released through HAT HUT records out of Switzerland in 1993. This is a recording that travels the expanse of jazz. The trio performs everything from early blues (St. Louis Blues), to jazz standards ("Laura" and "Hello, Young Lovers"), to a modern jazz classic (Mingus' "Fables of Faubus") to originals by members of the trio (Smoker's "Tetra" and Haynes' "Total Eclipse"). I first read of Paul Smoker in Cadence Magazine a couple of decades ago and have never been disappointed by anything he has been involved with.
Enjoy!
Another one that I'm not familiar with, and another good one!
